Why Production Chemistry Matters
Azerbaijani oilfields produce fluids that are corrosive, scale-forming, and emulsion-prone. The Caspian crude typically contains H₂S and CO₂, both of which aggressively corrode carbon steel infrastructure. Formation water carries dissolved salts that precipitate as scale in tubing, wellheads, and surface equipment. Without an active chemical programme, equipment life is measured in months, not years.

Chemical Product Range
Corrosion Inhibitors
Film-forming corrosion inhibitors coat internal metal surfaces, preventing H₂S and CO₂ attack on tubing, flowlines, and surface equipment. Available for continuous injection via dosage pump or batch treatment. ChampionX formulations are developed for Caspian crude chemistry.
Scale Inhibitors
Scale inhibitors prevent calcium carbonate, calcium sulphate, and barium sulphate scale deposition in tubing, wellheads, and surface equipment. Applied via continuous injection at the wellhead or downhole squeeze treatment.
Demulsifiers
Demulsifiers break crude oil-water emulsions at the separator, improving separation efficiency and reducing water content in export crude. ChampionX demulsifier selection is based on crude sample analysis and separator operating conditions.
Biocides
Biocides control sulphate-reducing bacteria (SRB) in produced water systems, water injection lines, and storage tanks. SRB produce H₂S biologically, accelerating corrosion and causing souring. Regular biocide treatment maintains bacterial counts within acceptable limits.
H₂S Scavengers
H₂S scavengers chemically react with hydrogen sulphide in the gas phase or liquid phase, removing it from the production stream before it reaches export or processing equipment. Used where H₂S concentrations exceed safe handling limits.
